Deconstructing a Freeway, Restoring a Waterway

THESIS PROJECT UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA BERKELEY. 2014.

 

Site. The Site of study is in San Francisco. The area includes the stretch from Central Freeway south of Market, the I80 Freeway and the Design district till Mission Creek .    

Program. The design includes a linear park along the Central Freeway and Mission Creek path. Many commercial, residential and office developments are created on the edges.  

Intention.  Design a more sustainable water system. Recycle remnants of the Freeway structure for other functions. Encourage a slow pace corridor for pedestrians, bikers and public transportation.
